Biological Science Technician (Soils)

Biology Technicians (Soils) duties include but are not limited to:
perform a full range of aid type duties and a variety of technical duties in support of soils programs. Serves as crewmember and occasionally crew lead for specific projects. Performs the following or duties of similar complexity:
completes soils portion of AIM monitoring; conducts field inventories of soil type to delineate soil types; collects ecological site information for plants as well as populations distributions, condition, trend, associated species, land form of occurrence, geology, and soil types; compiles, enters and retrieves data from automated databases; identifies, photographs, collects, and mounts plant specimens; assists in identifying alternatives to reduce erosion, improve forage and plant diversity and to accomplish project objectives. Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work performed in an office environment is adequately lighted and ventilated. Much of the time is spent in the field requiring a considerable amount of walking, riding, stooping, bending and lifting with exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, wildlife, and other hazards are common. Adherence to all safety procedures is required. One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 level. Examples of specialized experience may include taking soil samples by layer and root samples; makes observations and records data prescribed in soil studies; OR Successful completion of a full four (4) years course of progressive study leading to a bachelor's degree that included at least twenty-four (24) semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture or mathematics. At least six (6) semester hours of courses must be directly related to this position; OR A combination of experience and education to meet total experience.Specialized

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
